Overview

We sat down with Yizhen Chen, from China, who is currently studying her Masters in Information Technology (MIT) at SIHE. Here is what she had to say about her experience so far:

Tell us a bit about your background and where you are from.

I come from China, where I purchased a bachelor’s degree in software engineering. My academic background has equipped me with a solid foundation in technology, motivating my decision to further my education at SIHE.

How did you first hear about SIHE?

My introduction to SIHE happened through my agency when I was exploring study options in Australia. The agency presented several choices, and after careful consideration, I finally chose SIHE due to its location in Sydney, offering a wealth of opportunities for internships and jobs.

What made you decide to study with us?

Choosing SIHE was a multi-faceted decision. Firstly, the opportunity to study in Sydney was highly appealing. As Australia’s largest and most modern city, Sydney is brimming with opportunities and resources, making it very attractive to me. Secondly, SIHE’s courses are practical and relevant to future careers, which was a crucial factor in my decision. The competitive tuition fees were also instrumental in my final choice.

What are the benefits of studying at SIHE?

My experience at SIHE has been positive. The professors here exhibit kindness, creating a supportive learning environment. Interacting with classmates from diverse backgrounds has broadened my perspective. Additionally, SIHE provides free English and mathematics support programs, contributing to a helpful and inclusive academic atmosphere. The course schedule, with four subjects per semester and two days of on-campus study per week, strikes a perfect balance, making it easier for me to manage my studies and personal life. The cost-effective tuition enables me to enjoy the convenience of living and studying in Sydney without financial stress.

How has your time at SIHE prepared you for a career?

While I admit to feeling less prepared in my initial semester, I remain optimistic about the comprehensive two-year program preparing me for my future career. Despite my undergraduate degree in software engineering, I chose to explore the world and postponed entering the IT field. Opting for the MIT course at SIHE, the first-year subjects are helping me review and reinforce my foundational knowledge. In the second year, I plan to specialize in data science, aligning with my aspiration to become a data analyst. The past semester yielded promising results, motivating me to continue working hard in the future.
