Unit description
This unit provides an overview of the socio-technical aspects of Information Technology (IT) and issues that managers face in the selection, use, and management of IT. This unit explores the essential technologies, applications, and their impact on business models and managerial decision making and explains how managers can effectively use Information Technology to gain competitive advantage for their business. This unit also discusses the importance of integrating computer-based information systems, commonly referred to as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, supporting organization’s information needs. This unit also addresses other socio-technical aspects related to managing Information Technology, including the process of acquiring new systems, IT change management, security, privacy, and ethical aspects of Information Technology.
