Prerequisite: BIT102 Networking, BIT202 Cyber Security.
Typical study commitment: Students will on average spend 12 hours per week over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.
Scheduled learning activities: 4 timetabled hours per week, 8 personal study hours per week
Other resource requirements: 

Students will need access to lab computers or will need their own laptops in order to carry out lab exercises and assignments. Wireless USB adaptors will be required.


Unit description 

This unit provides students with basics concepts and an in-depth awareness of the fundamentals of Wireless LAN and an overview of the current technologies. Students as well will learn wireless technical background in terms of transmission fundamentals, communication networks and protocols. Students will learn personal area networks (PAN) technologies. To reflect the wireless security concepts into learning technical hands-on skills, student will learn and practice during labs how to hack and penetrate a wireless WIFI using vary penetration tools.
