BIT303 Advanced Networking

Prerequisite: BIT102 Networking, BIT 202 Cyber Security.
Typical study commitment: Students will on average spend 12 hours per week over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.
Scheduled learning activities: 4 timetabled hours per week, 8 personal study hours per week
Other resource requirements:

Students will need access to lab computers or will need their own laptops in order to carry out lab exercises and assignments. Wireshark will be used for practical and technical skills.


Unit description 

This unit enhances and deepens the knowledge on internetworking technologies and protocols. Most contents based on CCNA2 and CCNP technical and industrial certificates from Cisco.  Content includes Static and dynamic Routing algorithms and protocols including advanced version of EIGRP and OSPF, LAN redundancy and High Availability, Network Address Translation (NAT), IPV6, Wide Area Networks (WANs), Access Control List (ACL), Transmission Control Protocol, and network design and implementation with industry standard equipment like Cisco routers and switches
